My dad has been wanting to try out The Nest Bistro for aaaaaaages. So when I was planning Father’s Day festivities I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to check out this wonderful little bistro!
I wasn’t able to snap any pics of inside the restaurant (it’s small and intimate, and the place was packed so I didn’t want to intrude on people’s Father’s Day dinner!). But that’s ok, because I took plenty pictures of our food (which, really, that’s the whole reason we came!)
To start, the chef sent every table a special Father’s Day treat. Titled an Amuse-bouche (aka a single, bite-sized hors d’œuvre) the waitress served us a Ham & Swiss Pancake with Onion Cream. Since I have nut allergies, and I was playing it safe, I can’t tell you how good it was. But I think the looks of bliss and delight on my family’s faces sells this delicious, savoury treat. Now on to the main course. My dad and brother both had the Father’s Day Special: Steak and Ribs served with the nights veggies (carrots, purple cabbage, grape tomatoes, and pureed parsnip). They also both opted for side salads instead of the garlic mashed potatoes. My mom tried the Forest Mushroom Risotto. She loved it so much, she saved some for lunch at work the next day! I ordered the Grilled Beef Tenderloin served with the nights veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. I was in heaven – it was so delicious! Now, we couldn’t dare leave without trying some dessert too! We were so impressed with our main course that we decided to split two desserts between the four of us. I chose the Ice Cream Sandwich while my mom chose the Warm Chocolate Ganache Cake. The Ice Cream Sandwich changes by day (since it’s all homemade – down to the ice cream!). For Father’s Day, the chef made a Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookie served with Chocolate Ice Cream. Now anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE COCONUT. I also love chocolate ice cream. So this was dessert heaven for me. It was a bit tricky to eat, but OMG was it scrumptious!
