CAN YOU BELIEVE it’s only 3 days until Christmas?!?! Like, no. This can’t be. It’s too early.
If you’re like Sarah and I, we’ve been busy at work and have had little time to really throw ourselves into the Christmas season. Having said that, you know what I absolutely couldn’t give up? Seeing all of the Christmas lights around my city. Since I live in an apartment, I can’t really decorate with as much pizazz as I would like – which is why I enjoy driving around and living vicariously through other homeowners’ outdoor Christmas light displays!
I enlisted the help of my friend Jenna (thanks for the ride, friend!) to help me track down some festively-lit homes. Victoria Buzz recently just put our their 2nd annual Christmas Lights Tour Map, so we followed along to their map which includes homes in greater Victoria, Saanich, the Saanich Peninsula, and even West Shore!
First thing’s first – we gotta get our hot drink on. I wanted to try somewhere new, so Jenna and I drove to Habit Coffee down on Yates Street.
We HIGHLY recommend grabbing your favourite hot drink (me a London Fog, Jenna a Chai Latte) and cranking your favourite Christmas tunes to really get into the spirit.
There are over 25 stops on Victoria Buzz’s Christmas Lights Tour Map, but we only had time to hit a handful – there’s a lot to see! Aside from the stops on the map, we also made a few pit stops. The Inn at Laurel Point currently has Canada’s National Gingerbread Showcase 2015 on and we HAD to make a pit stop! We also made impromptu stops at any beautifully lit homes while exploring our tour map. Have a look at some of the photos we took below:
If touring your neighbourhoods is an annual tradition, we highly recommend checking out the tour map over on Victoria Buzz. If you’re a Nanaimo reader, fear not, friend! You can check out the 2015 Nanaimo Daily News Christmas Lights Map here!
I also put together a quick little video to hopefully get you out exploring the Christmas Lights in your neighbourhood:
