Okokok. If you don’t know by now Lower Johnson (or #LoJo – I’m trying to make this work) is such a rad place to explore – trendy coffee shops, charming restaurants, fashionable clothing stores, and the like, #LoJo is an eclectic mix of some of Victoria’s coolest locales. There’s been a few stops on our list to explore – like Rook & Rose, Hey Happy, and The Regional Assembly of Text, but one that’s news to me is Little Gold.
Here at LLVI, we do a lot of research into cool places we want to explore so when we stumble upon someplace unbeknownst to us, like Little Gold, we get a liiiiiiittle over-excited. It was one of those, “Oh hey, this window display looks cool. Wanna check it out?” situations.
AND THANK BABY JESUS WE DID. Little Gold is a jewelry-fiend’s best friend (and maybe your wallets’ frenemy). The dream shop of brother/sister duo Steph & Jeff, Little Gold is “a casual, west coast inspired store where handmade jewelry from all around the world is displayed in an accessible way”. Although they display jewelry from artists all over the world, Little Gold houses Victoria-local artists work as well.
One of my favourites (aside from the fact she’s local – that’s just a bonus) was the work of Shannon Munro. OH MY GOD. I can’t even describe the feels as I laid my eyes on one of her floral statement necklaces. If anyone’s wondering, my birthday is in May so now you know what to get me.
Now, it wasn’t just the drop-dead-gorgeous jewelry that made us swoon – the shop is beauty in itself. Simple, clean, west coast-y… it’s the perfect setup to showcase the myriad of drool-worthy handmade jewelry.
Each piece looks as if it was handpicked for its uniqueness, intricacy, radness (yes, radness), or even for its minimalist yet radiant design. If you’re a fan of interesting handmade jewelry, you’re sure to find a little somethin’ somethin’ at Little Gold.
And if you happen to be a non-lover of all things glittery and gold, it’s worth a trip even just for the ‘gram. Or to say hi to shop dog Audrey (what a cutie).
Let us know which piece of Little Gold’s caught your eye down in the comments below! Also please let me know if #LoJo is a thing.
